We can kill trees for cars but not for cycling - What city are we building?

To accommodate more cars, Government is about to widen Hiram’s Highway west of Sai Kung town.

For this they will kill 1,082 trees.

The Hiram’s Highway widening project will add lanes for cars but not for bicycles. The project is pending funding from LegCo.

At the same time, Government has aborted plans for adding a cycle track east of Sai Kung town along Sai Sha Road to Ma On Shan.

The reason given: Because it would kill 1,600 trees.

In short, it is OK to kill trees for cars but not for cycling. And we will never be able to reach Sai Kung Town by bike, neither from the west nor from the east.

What city are we building for ourselves?
