Stephen Fry

Stephen Fry 借詩喻今,引用葉慈 “The Second Coming” 中的名句: "Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;/⋯/The best lack all conviction, while the worst/Are full of passionate intensity."

1. "Bone cancer in children, what's that about? How dare you? How dare you create a world where there is such misery that's not our fault? It's utterly, utterly evil. Why should I respect a capricious, mean-minded, stupid God who creates a world which is so full of injustice and pain?"
2. Andréa Morris “Stephen Fry Receives Richard Dawkins Award For Lack Of Faith”. Forbes. Oct 25, 2018.
3. “Skeptics and rationalists are very keen to remind people of how we should always examine the truth and look at the truth,” said Fry who reminded an audience of skeptics about humanity’s encumbered access to pure reason based on “how little we know and how much our cognition, how much our understanding is colored and changed, is transmogrified by both what we wish and what we have experienced–what our body expects us to feel or our eyes expect us to see.”
4. We are immensely emotional and being skeptical and being rational is not denying that–it’s understanding it. It’s understanding the part emotions have to play and ritual and ceremony and metaphor and symbol which are the substance of art, are also the substance of a lot of ways humans behave.”
5. “It’s not a grim piece of work. It’s an excitement. I think that will ensure the better future. Being alert and playing gracefully with ideas.”
