【建築界諾貝爾獎】智利建築師 Alejandro Aravena 獲普立茲克獎

智利建築師 Alejandro Aravena(阿拉維納)獲頒發有「建築界諾貝爾獎」之稱的 2016 普立茲克建築獎 (Pritzker Architecture Prize)。 

今年 48 歲的 Aravena 於智利聖地牙哥生活及工作。他是首位獲得普立茲克建築獎的智利人,也是繼 Luis Barragán (1980)、Oscar Niemeyer (1988) 及 Paulo Mendes da Rocha (2006) 後,第四位獲此殊榮的南美人。

Aravena 最廣為人知的,是他在 ELEMENTAL 的工作。2001 年起,他擔任聖地牙哥 "Do Tank"(有別於智庫 "Think Tank") ELEMENTAL 的執行總監,與夥伴合力進行社會建設項目,作品包括房屋、公共空間、交通及基礎建設等。至今 ELEMENTAL 已設計超過 2,500 家低成本房屋。其作品包括聖地牙哥的 Metropolitan Promenade (1997 至今)、Bicentennial Children’s Park (2012),與及 2010 智利地震後的重建工程 Villa Verde (2013)、Constitución Cultural Center (2014) 等。

1992年,Aravena 畢業於智利 Catolica 大學建築學院。1994 年他以個人名義成立建築事務所,並任教於大學母校。過去他曾擔任哈佛大學客座教授、也曾是普立茲克獎的評審團成員。在獲此獎之前,他已曾奪得 2006 年德國 Erich Schelling 建築獎、2008 年威尼斯建築雙年展銀獅獎、馬庫斯建築獎 (Marcus Prize for Architecture) 等。此外,他也恰恰是今年威尼斯建築雙年展的總監。該展將於 5 月舉行。

評審團讚揚 Aravena 的作品呼應了 21 世紀建築界的挑戰,無論是私人委約還是公共項目,都富藝術性,並體現了建築設計更具公共性的一面。此外,評審團亦認為 Aravena 的建築為基層帶來了經濟機會,減低自然災害對人類帶來的影響,不僅有效控制能源消耗,更提供了開放的公共空間。「他證明了最優秀的建築師可以如何改善人類生活。」

Aravena 則對獲獎表示感到高興。「我們希望利用獎項帶來的榮耀,探索全新領域,面對新挑戰,與及作出新的行動。」

Aravena 是第 41 位獲普立茲克建築獎的建築師。頒獎典禮將於 4 月 4 日在紐約聯合國總部舉行。
