On opening again my eyes full of flame
I saw the horror of my garret,
And felt, as I turned inwardly,
The sharp prick of accursed worries;
The clock with the funeral tomes,
Struck noon brutally,
And the sky poured darkness
Over the sad lethargic world.
——Charles Baudelaire: Parisian Dream

As soon as someone dies, frenzied construction of the future (shifting furniture, etc,): futuromania. —— Roland Barthes: Mourning Dairy

……there remains only a series of little squares representing a very small part of the total surface—perhaps a ninth —— Alain-Robbe Grillet: Jealousy

Let us wage a war on totality; let us be witnesses to the unpresentable; let us activate the differences & save the honor of the name. —— Jean-François Lyotard: The Postmodern Condition
