2017/6/4 — 14:40

("89.6.4, 9.28 and 2047" by Chapman Chen; please roll down for English version)

89.6.4, 9.28 and 2047

The Chinese Communist Party of China (CCP) has committed numerous atrocious crimes against humanity, including Three-Anti/Five-Anti campaigns, Anti-Rightist Movement, Cultural Revolution, etc. 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre is just a small dish among them. According to Jon Halliday and Jung Chan (2005) Mao: The Unknown Story, the CCP as led by Chairman Mao caused the death of more than seventy million Chinese. In comparison, the June Fourth Massacre pales.

The lesson to be learnt by Hongkongers back in 1989 was: "China is beyond redemption (for it has eliminated the last cohort of Mainlanders with a conscience); Hong Kong has to save herself by asserting its autonomy and guarding the boundary between Hong Kong and China.

Today, the Tiananmen Square Massacre anniversary is no longer required to remind Hongkongers of how despicable the Beijing communist regime and the Hong Kong communist regime are. Admiralty as on 28 September 2014, which marked the beginning of the Umbrella Revolution, is already Hong Kong people's Tiananmen Square (cf. Joel Lau [2017] facebook post). On that night, the Hong Kong police, as a suppressive apparatus of the State, almost went so far as to kill protesters in order to put down the protest in Admiralty against National People's Congress Standing Committee decision on HK 2017 election framework. Then, during the Fish Ball Revolution, which began on the first day of the Chinese New Year in 2016, the Hong Kong police actually fired.

Although today is June 4th, 2017, 2047 is NOW; one country one system is imminent.  On May 27 this year, Zhang Dejiang, head of National People's Congress, stressed that "separation of powers" was not applicable to Hong Kong, that Hong Kong should be pre-dominated by the executive power, that the ruling regime must be comprised by patriotic people, and that national, "patriotic" education of Hong Kong youngster must be strengthened.

Michael Hechter (1999: 16) defines internal colonialism as follows: “The periphery exists within an unequal and dependent economic and political relationship with the metropolitan core. There is also a basic cultural conflict, usually over language and religion, between the core and the periphery.”

In recent years, Communist China's internal colonization of Hong Kong has escalated. In respect of public health, Hong Kong has continuously been attacked by poisonous vegetables, meat, water, and air from China, as if a kind of ethnic cleansing is taking place. Regarding immigration policy, China has been continuously exporting thousands of low-quality migrants to Hong Kong, without Hongkongers' consent. In 2016, there were 57,400 new immigrants from China to Hong Kong, a rise of 50 percent over 2015. Concerning economy, China manipulates Hong Kong's finance, property market, mass media, infrastructure, so that civic freedom is curtailed and the poor can hardly find a shelter.

Regarding politics, China has unscrupulously interfered with Hong Kong's chief executive and legco elections. China has even sent secret agents to cross the border and kidnap dissidents like directors of the Causeway Bay Bookstore. Backed by China, the Hong Kong Communist Government has arbitrarily disqualified democratically elected law-makers, and persecuted by way of prosecution dissidents and demonstrators. Culture-wise, the Hong Kong Communist Government has bribed primary and secondary schools to teach the Chinese in Putonghua, with a view to undermining or even destroying local Cantonese language and culture.

Those Beijing students who died for freedom and democracy on the Tiananmen Square 28 years ago, of course, deserve our respect and sympathy. But we have to bear in mind our priorities and urgencies. Hong Kong is facing a critical danger here and now, such that our most urgent task is not to beg a fascist regime to "vindicate" a tragedy that took place almost 30 years in a remote place. Rather, we, Hong Kong people, have to deal with the crisis of our own extermination and defend our own home-land. We have to insist on Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong and locals first, thereby increasing the CCP's cost of ruling and making it difficult for it to devour Hong Kong so swiftly.

At the same time, we had better endeavour to draw international attention to how the Hong Kong Communist Government's and the Beijing Government's way of ruling Hong Kong contravenes International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Sino-British Joint Declaration, US-Hong Kong Policy Act, and the Basic Law, in order that the international community becomes aware that Hong Kong has been reduced to a sub-colony of China, where human rights of the locals are systematically trampled upon, including the right of voting and running for democratic elections, freedom of speech and public meeting, the right to education in one's mother tongue, personal safety, etc.
