The First National Animal Rights Day in Hong Kong (English version below)

Yesterday (June 3) is the first time that Hong Kong takes part in National Animal Rights Day. From 5 pm through 8 pm, at the public area outside HK City Hall, around 50 Hong Kong animal rights activists mourned the billions of innocent animals who die for selfish and unnecessary desires of human beings every year. They called upon humanity to stop persecuting and exploiting all animals and turn their lifestyle to a benevolent, plant-based (vegan) one. First, they observed a few minutes' silence in commemoration of those animals who were unjustly killed for providing food, fur, etc. for human beings, and as guinea pigs in experiments, teachings and researches. Then certain mourning music notes were played, which was followed by Joyce, one of the organizers, reciting poems which stressed that animals were not expendables. National Animal Right Day started in 2011 in New York City, and has quickly expanded to cities all over the world.
